At the Heimtextil exhibition in Frankfurt, within a rectangular space measuring 12x13m, we were tasked with designing this year’s booth for IFI SA, a company that designs and produces textiles for the global market.
Given IFI SA’s long-standing success in the textile industry and its prime location at the exhibition—situated at the main entrance of Hall 3 with an open floor plan on three sides—the booth needed to be both impressive and distinct from previous years while effectively serving the company’s needs. As in every year, the key objectives remained the same: to showcase the fabrics from the latest collection and to connect with both existing and potential clients.
The booth was structured on two horizontal levels. The first level welcomes visitors, inviting them to touch the fabrics displayed as curtains and to rest on the large curved sofa next to the olive tree while waiting for their turn. The second, elevated level serves as the demonstration area. Three large counters accommodate up to 12 clients at a time, set against the booth’s only closed side, where fabric samples are suspended for display.
For the ceiling construction, we used the product itself as a structural material. A linear fabric from the company’s collection—measuring 1.5 meters in height, 100 meters in length, and weighing just 10 kilograms—was folded along curved rails, creating a unique architectural installation. Light and fabric interact, forming dynamic spatial atmospheres, while the fabric canopy serves as the finishing touch to the booth’s overall composition.
Following the company’s brand identity, we chose to keep all levels and the ceiling in a neutral anthracite tone, providing a backdrop that enhances and frames the vibrant colors and intricate patterns of the textiles.
